Wincanton has won a three-year national distribution contract with supplier of ready-mixed concrete, Cemex, taking responsibility for both the planning and transport of bagged cement to UK construction sites, retailers and wholesalers.
The two companies have been working together since 2007, on a deal which sees Wincanton deliver building products and packed aggregates to construction sites across the country.
The new contract will take place from Cemex’s production site in Rugby, Warwickshire, where the product is produced and made ready for distribution. It will see Wincanton distribute around 15,000 loads a year.
“For many years Wincanton has provided us with an excellent service on our building products and packed aggregates and we have no doubts about its capabilities to replicate that success with our bagged materials and ensure that we continue to meet our customer service promise,” said Craig Williamson, director of supply chain and logistics at Cemex.
