Fresh cherry supplier JO Sims, has awarded Gist its logistics contract for the transport of cherries and other fresh fruit to several UK multiple retailers.

Gist is also renting space within Sims’ temperature-controlled warehouse in Spalding to cater for its expanding list of customers in the fresh produce sector.
“Our fresh fruit business is very seasonal, and traditionally we had clear peaks with gaps,” said Darren Crook, operations director at the fruit firm.
“With the addition of warehouse automation we have more production time and space and can now offer third party services. Gist and JO Sims have a flexible relationship, where Gist is both a supplier, delivering transport for our fresh fruit, and a customer now they are using warehouse space for more of their customers.”
