Reading Borough Council has extended the outsourcing contract for its stores management for a further two years.
Integrated Services, part of Wolseley UK, was appointed on a five year contract to manage all materials supply for the repair and maintenance of Reading’s housing stock and other council buildings.
This involved outsourcing the stores management to Integrated Services, which set up its own stores facility in Reading. Integrated Services also offers a delivery service and van stock management for the council’s trades people out in the community.
Jamie Lovering from the council said: “The initial contract had a two year extension option and we decided to award this to Integrated Services because they had worked so hard with RBC to build and develop the quality and efficiency of our stores over the contract period.
“Improving the van stocks of maintenance staff has helped to improve the efficiency of the service and the impact of having the correct materials allows improvements in the ‘right first time service’ to our tenants. Integrated Services has also helped to improve the efficiency of our stock holding and has always achieved our core stock target of 98 per cent. They have played a key role in helping us to identify efficiencies throughout the supply chain, helping us to control cost and stock levels and dramatically improving service levels, particularly in the areas of responsive maintenance.”
