During 2005, one out of every four trucks sold in the UK was a DAF, according to end-of-year statistics from DAF Trucks. It produced a record number of 41,200 CF and XF models last year, together with 11,300 Leyland-produced LF series. DAF’s marketing and sales director, Kerry McDonagh said: “Together with our sales units and our dealers, we achieved a record market share in a record market.”

DAF made the announcement following a record year in both manufacturing and sales. They said that according to the latest information, the 6 – 15 ton market in western Europe reached a volume of 77,000 registrations in 2005 against 75,000 in 2004.

“According to the currently available market information, we have achieved a market share of 13.7 per cent in the over 15 tonne segment, almost a full per cent growth compared with 2004, when we reached 12.9 per cent; a tremendous achievement of the whole of our organisation and a clear recognition of the class-leading quality of our products and services.”
