Baylis Logistics has installed the MAN telematics system across its entire fleet.
The system works by alerting the company’s transport control room of a vehicle’s location and of any potential problems en-route. It also monitors fuel consumption and driver performance.
All vehicles feature an in-cab interactive voice system to monitor order progress and provide effective communication. Proof of delivery (POD) is confirmed via a secure website.
Thomas van Mourik, managing director of Baylis Logistics, said: “The telematics system is a key part of maintaining and developing services that offer real benefits and create value throughout the supply chain.”
The food and grocery distributor recently took delivery of nearly 60 new vehicles, which were specified to include the tracking system.
Baylis said that the system has enabled them to operate its fleet more efficiently and provide greater visibility for customers when delivering orders across the UK.
