DHL Exel has rolled out a logistics operation for Wales & West Utilities following a
90-day set-up and implementation period. The initiative sees DHL managing the
supply of gas products to Wales & West on a storage and replenishment basis, as well
as provision of a 24-7 emergency call out service.
To cover the gas supply for one sixth of the UK and a catchment population of over
seven million, Wales & West looked to DHL to help set up and then manage
warehousing and consolidation facilities, as well as a distribution network to cope
with the Wales & West business.
Anna Jenkins, purchasing and supply chain manager at Wales & West, said: “Our first
serious conversation with DHL Exel Supply Chain was less than a 100 days before
the 1st June date when Wales & West assumed responsibility for the operation and
maintenance of the gas distribution network in their allotted area. At that point DHL
came to us with a viable logistics solution that they confidently predicted they could
seamlessly deliver.”
