Fujitsu has extended its logistics outsourcing contract with DHL Exel for five years. The agreement is the continuation of a long-term relationship that began with the acquisition of Fujitsu Logistics in June 2004 by DHL.
DHL Exel will continue to provide a broad range of logistics services in Japan for Fujitsu and its affiliate companies including transport using road and rail networks, warehouse management, packaging materials design, reverse logistics, service parts logistics, heavy equipment installation, METI-approved “green” logistics, and information equipment recycling.
DHL Exel’s acquisition of Fujitsu Logistics and outsourcing arrangement was the first of its kind in the Japanese high-technology logistics industry in terms of scale and scope of services involved.
Donald McGarva, President, DHL Supply Chain Ltd in Japan, said: “Earning the trust of Fujitsu, one of Japan’s leading global enterprises, has reinforced our confidence in DHL’s ability to provide tailored logistics services that meet the highly demanding logistics needs of Japanese customers.”
