UPS unveils Paralympics plans

UPS has unveiled its plans for the delivery of London 2012 team kit to Paralympic athletes across the UK.
It will be warehousing, packing and delivering more than 27,000 items to over 300 Paralympic athletes.
The first step will involve UPS warehousing all of the kit, so it can be quickly and easily picked and packed for each individual athlete, depending on their size and individual requirements. All items will then be scanned, in order to ensure maximum stock control, before being packed into kit bags ready for delivery.
“Over the next few weeks, UPS will be delivering over 27,000 items of kit to Paralympic athletes around the country” said Tim Hollingsworth CEO, British Paralympic Association “This is a mammoth job and it is vital that all the kit arrives on time and to the right place, so it is important to be working with a company like UPS that is well versed in this kind of large scale operation.”
Managing director Cindy Miller said: “This is a hugely significant moment for any athlete on their journey to the London 2012 Games and we are excited to be playing such a vital role in making their dreams of representing their country at the Paralympic Games.”
