HTS focuses on smart logistics

Hitachi Transport System has unveiled a concept it calls “smart logistics” that highlights its global network and wide range of services as it seeks to expand in Europe.

HTS, a subsidiary of the global electronics company Hitachi, launched its European logistics activities in 1989 and now has 14 locations in 6 different European countries. Globally it has sales of more than €5.7bn.

It is based at Waadenburg about 20 miles east of Rotterham in The Netherlands and has a site at Basingstoke in the UK.

European director Rimmert van Luyn, said: “At HTS, we’re always striving to identify the best solutions for our clients. That could mean the quickest, most sustainable, most cost-effective or most intelligent method, or perhaps a combination thereof. Many clients appreciate our one-stop shop approach: thanks to our global network and comprehensive service portfolio, customers can obtain several different solutions from HTS all under one roof.”

HTS has set itself the goal of becoming the world’s number one Japan-based provider of third party logistics services within the next few years.
