Parcel service Collect+ has hired Mark Lewis, former managing director of eBay UK, as its new chief executive officer.
Collect+ was set up by Home Delivery Network and PayPoint in 2009 and allows online shoppers to collect or drop off parcels at local convenience stores, avoiding failed deliveries.
As well as a considerable experience of online retail, Lewis has a proven ability to drive business development, with a return to 20 per-cent year on year growth fro eBay under his management.
“Having long worked in retail, I understand the key roles that convenient deliveries and returns play in securing brand loyalty and providing a fantastic customer experience. Collect+ offers retailers and consumers an alternative to the dreaded ‘Sorry we missed you’ slip, which indicates a costly failed delivery combined with disappointment and hassle for the end customer” said Lewis.
Collect+ reckons that distrust of standard delivery options has caused 44 per cent of consumers to cancel an online purchase, and that one in ten deliveries fail on the first attempt, costing retailers £240 million per year.
