Horizontal collaboration in supply chains can play a key role in reducing wastage. But it demands explicit management of the collaborators’ interfaces for maximum efficiency.
Stephen Rinsler, director of Bisham Consulting and vice president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport International, will be looking at the issues surrounding horizontal collaboration at the Logistics Manager Conference in September.
He will be discussing the TAIL gate project which aims is to develop a new freight logistics interoperability software platform that will to reduce the total number of UK annual road freight movements by 1.5% – over 1.5 million movements – by 2017.
Bisham is working alongside OmPrompt, ELUPEG, Transport Exchange Group, DSV and SFS in a project supported by the government’s Technology Strategy Board.
Logistics Link North takes place from 27-28 September 2011 in Doncaster’s V3 warehouse complex.
