Drivers at the Tesco distribution centre in Doncaster have voted to strike, following a 90-day employment termination notice by new employer Eddie Stobart.
The 150 Unite members voted by 91.7 per cent to 8.3 per cent for strike action; and by 95.4 per cent to 4.6 per cent for industrial action short of a strike.
Last month, the transport workforce was transferred from Tesco to Stobart. On 5 September Stobart issued notice of termination of employment, with no promise that the drivers will be re-employed once the 90-days is up.
Unite is still in talks with Stobart. Regional officer Harriet Eisner said the drivers would be deciding in the next couple of days on what action to take and when.
