The 5,000th parcel store in CollectPlus’ network has opened for business.
The firm reckons that 87 per cent of the UK’s online shoppers are now within a mile of one of its drop off and collection points in convenience stores, garages and supermarkets, in urban areas. For rural areas it estimates coverage of 88 per cent of people being within five miles of a store.
It has focussed on opening parcel stores in shops with extended opening hours, and reports that 40 per cent of its transactions take place outside traditional opening hours.
“Our continual focus on the expansion of our network of stores, through which people can drop off and pick up parcels, helps retailers have a greater number of physical touch points with their customers – an important point of differentiation in a changing omni-channel environment,”said chief executive, Mark Lewis.
CollectPlus uses the PayPoint technology which is already in 24,000 convenience retailers in the UK.
