Paint and coatings manufacturer PPG Industries has extended its contract with Norbert Dentressangle for 18 months.
PPG supplies customers in the construction, consumer, industrial and transport markets, and UK Ministry of Defence. Its UK factories for automotive refinish and aerospace sealants and coatings are in Stowmarket, Suffolk, and Shildon, County Durham, respectively.
Under the new deal, Dentressangle will provide a next day service that exceeds ADR regulations for the safe transport of products within the UK and Ireland.
It will use its shared user network to delivery most of the orders during the day, with a small amount of freight being delivered through the night.
Goods are collected and distributed to a combination of aerospace and automotive end users with over 1,600 deliveries made a month on a next day or timed basis in line with PPG’s customer requirements. A limited amount of consignment returns are also managed.
PPG management has full visibility of orders and real time traceability of deliveries using Norbert Dentressangle’s IT solution, SharpNet. Consignment details are transferred using an electronic interface for goods despatched from the Stowmarket site.
“We’ve worked with Norbert Dentressangle for 17-years and the company continues to develop a solution that provides a flexible service without the need for expensive fixed costs,” said Shaun Cobbold, PPG’s logistics contracts manager UK.
