Hermes is investing £25 million in a new 15,000 sq m distribution hub in Warrington capable of handling some 560,000 parcels a day – three times the capacity of the existing site.
The purpose built hub, which is set to create 60 new jobs, is due for completion in April 2014.
“The new hub’s massive throughput capability will give us room to continue to grow our business as we take advantage of the continuing surge in online shopping, said Gary Winter, sales & marketing director at Hermes.
“The built in flexibility will allow us to meet any changing requirements our clients might have such as later assured collection cut off times and a higher proportion of next-day delivery.”
