Fraikin has been awarded a second major contract with Sainsbury’s, which will see the company manage and maintain a further 350 of the supermarket chain’s home delivery trucks.
The fleet management specialist will now handle more than 600 of Sainsbury’s 1,500-strong UK fleet, following a previous contract to supply the superstore with 246 vehicles in 2011.
The services provided by Fraikin as part of the deal include a response time of 90 minutes for recovery and repair and a maintenance programme carried out every 12 weeks at Sainsbury’s stores.
“We are geared up to manage the vehicles via our permanently manned breakdown centre and our network of maintenance partners. We know that a fast response in the unlikely event of a breakdown is imperative due to the perishable items on board,” said Peter Backhouse, CEO of Fraikin.
