Still Materials Handling has added three new three-phase AC-powered models to its R 60 electric counterbalance forklift line-up in the two- to three-tonne capacity sector. The 2.2-tonne R60-22I, 2.5-tonne R-60-25I and three-tonne R60-30I supplement Still’s 1.6-tonne and two-tonne models launched early last year.
The new trucks have powerful AC three-phase drive motors which operate under digital control to give highly responsive power delivery with much more efficient use of the battery capacity. The motors feature at the heart of the R60’s low-maintenance single motor front-wheel drive to allow the truck to accelerate quickly and safely up to a top speed of 20km/hr.
According to Still, typical applications for the new models include warehousing, freight management, production line feeding, container stuffing, retail, distribution, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), cold stores and airports. They are also particularly suited to tough applications as the drive axle is fully capsulated, giving protection against dust, humidity and acid media. This also reduces the need of an internal ventilation filter on the motors, so contributing to the low-cost operation.
Longer maintenance intervals – 1,000 hours or 12 months – have further reduced costs as has the sealed-for-life, totally maintenance-free braking system.
