Developer Wilson Bowden has secured planning for a 12-acre speculative development totalling 111,000 sq ft, with a fourth unit of 70,000 sq ft available on a design-and-build basis at its £350m Kingsway development near Rochdale.
Kingsway will be one of the largest developments of its kind in the UK, with three million sq ft of industrial and distribution space, 295,867 sq ft of office space and 196,435 sq ft of retail and leisure space, and with a current allocation of 300 homes.
Rob Green, operations director for Kingsway at the Northwest Regional Development Agency, said: “Approval on this first application for build is a crucial step in creating the high quality mixed-use scheme we believe to be at the forefront of economic development in Rochdale and Greater Manchester.”
