n Manufacturing and finished goods company Cable Management Products (CMP) is using four new Crown RD 5000 pantograph reach trucks to perform a variety of roles within its Coleshill complex. The company manufactures metallic and non-metallic flexible and pliable hoses for use in the automotive as well as the building and construction industries.
n It selected the Crown truck for two specific reasons. CMP supply chain group leader Vic Morris explains: “Because of their extending pantograph forks, the RD trucks are capable of loading or unloading vehicles from just one side, which is extremely advantageous when operating in outdoor areas where space is restricted. Another advantage, owing to their compactness and manoeuvrability, is the ability to operate indoors in confined areas, such as in the WIP stores and moving goods in and around machining and production areas.”
n One RD truck is being used to unload raw materials from suppliers, while another aids the daily manufacture of flexible and pliable hoses. The remaining two RD 5000s solely assist in the loading and despatch of some 2,500 parcels and pallets a month to both UK and overseas customers.
