TNT has launched an express parcels apprenticeship scheme and is taking on 40 young people in the first year.
The scheme will provide full-time work and training for over 18-year-olds at TNT’s parcel distribution centre in Atherstone and hub in Kingsbury.
Apprentices undergo a 12 month programme of work which combines their role as loading bay operatives with formal college training at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College in Nuneaton.
At the end of the year they will emerge with a nationally recognised qualification and the opportunity of a full-time job.
“The Express Parcels Apprenticeship Scheme provides excellent career opportunities for young, sometimes, disenfranchised people,” said
Andrew McDonald, general manager talent, said: “We are currently focusing on roles at Atherstone and Kingsbury but, if successful, the scheme will be rolled out across the UK, creating hundreds of jobs for apprentices for a number of years.”
the modules the apprentices will cover during their training include parcel lifecycle and product awareness, dock safety, dangerous goods, backshift and nightshifts and pick-up and delivery.
