AJEX Logistics Services announced it has officially opened Saudi Arabia’s first GMP-GxP compliant logistics depot for healthcare products.
The 3,000m2 purpose-built facility, located in Riyadh, supports growing demand for compliant temperature-controlled pharmaceutical and medicinal product storage and distribution in Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region.
It meets both international Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and the requirements of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
AJEX’s new logistics facility has multiple temperature-controlled storage zones designed to maintain the integrity of healthcare products. This includes a 2-8°C chamber for storage of refrigerated biologics, vaccines, and temperature-sensitive drugs, as well as a dedicated -20°C chamber for frozen cell therapies and biologics.
The new depot also features a secondary labelling room, which can provide country-specific packaging and documentation for the Saudi market.
“The only facility of its kind currently operational in the Kingdom, this investment positions AJEX as a unique partner for pharmaceutical companies seeking to enter or expand within Saudi Arabia and the Gulf’s rapidly evolving market,” commented Justyna Lehmann, senior director of cold chain and healthcare at AJEX.
According to AJEX, pharmaceutical products from the depot can be transferred to its last mile network, with temperature-controlled delivery options ensuring cold chain continuity. The third-party logistics provider also offers support with customs clearance, packaging validation and regulatory documentation.
“With this depot, AJEX is now uniquely positioned to support global pharmaceutical companies looking to enter or expand in Saudi Arabia with best-in-class storage, handling, and delivery,” Lehmann added.
In August, DHL Group completed acquisition of a minority stake in AJEX, part of a broader £420m investment in its Middle East operations by 2030.
