Global logistics company DP World has pledged to invest an additional US$5bn (£3.8bn) to strengthen multimodal connectivity across its supply chain network in India.
The announcement, made at India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, is expected to support both domestic and international trade. It builds on US$3bn that DP World has invested in the region over the past 30 years.
The investment pledge follows several memorandums of association that DP World signed in the August.
“This new investment combined with the strategic partnerships, reaffirms our commitment to advancing India’s maritime and logistics industry and cementing the nation’s position in global trade,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World.
He added that funding aims to further lower logistics costs, support local manufacturing, and expand market access across India.
The five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed cover green coastal shipping, shipbuilding, ship repair, skills development, and advanced freight mobility.
A partnership between DP World’s Unifeeder and Sagarmala Finance Corporation aims to develop and scale commercially sustainable coastal shipping services across India.
An second agreement between Cochin Shipyard and Drydocks World looks to expand operations at the International Ship Repair Facility in Kochi to strengthen India’s position as an emerging hub for global maritime services.

Meanwhile, Cochin Port Authority and DP World are coming together to enhance maritime infrastructure in the southwestern state of Kerala by upgrading the handling facilities at DP World’s International Container Transshipment Terminal at Kochi.
The final agreement between Deendayal Port Authority, DP World, and Nevomo (MagRail) looks to enable the design and installation of a 750m MagRail Booster pilot track within the port on the northwestern coast of India, setting the stage for automated, low-emission port operations.
DP World’s network in India spans more than 200 locations and supports some 24,000 direct and indirect jobs in the country.
