French utility EDF and transport and logistics company GEODIS have entered a partnership that aims to decarbonise the supply chain in France and internationally.
The collaboration aims to “significantly reduce” the carbon footprint of GEODIS’ warehouses and transport flows worldwide.
Additionally, it will assess how GEODIS could provide logistics services for EDF Group’s energy projects.
Marc Benayoun, EDF Group executive director, customers, services & territories said: “As the logistics sector accounts for 16% of CO₂ emissions in France, its decarbonisation is a critical challenge.”
Through the partnership, EDF Group will support GEODIS with a range of solutions to improve its carbon footprint
The partners will assess options for low-carbon energy supply for GEODIS’ sites, including looking at ways to optimise energy performance through innovative solutions such as heat recovery.
The team will explore the production of renewable energy at warehouses through the installation of roof-top solar panels and the development of solar carports. Plus, they consider charging infrastructure solutions for light vehicles, utility vehicles, and heavy trucks.
Finally, the collaboration will look at ways to enhance land assets, including the potential transformation of certain sites into data centres.
EDF and GEODIS plan to hold their first Strategic Steering Committee meeting in the coming days to ensure effective monitoring of the agreement and projects.
At the Responsible Supply Chain Conference in London on 23 June 2026, industry pioneers will explore cutting-edge strategies to embed ethical accountability and holistic sustainability across all operations.
