Dubai-based Equitrans Logistics completed the stable-to-stable transportation of 35 elite classical dressage horses from Europe to Abu Dhabi for the grand opening of Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA) on 1-2 November.
The operation brought together horses from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna (Austria), the Cadre Noir de Saumur in France, the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art in Lisbon, and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez (Spain).
It marked the first time that the four schools had performed together alongside ADREA’s own ensemble of riders and horses.
The horses travelled on Emirates on a Boeing 777 Freighter aircraft in temperature-controlled jet stalls with fresh bedding and hay, cared for by Equitrans’ team of trained professional flying grooms.
Upon arrival into Dubai World Central, the horses were transferred into Equitrans’ fleet of airconditioned trucks for the 90-minute journey to ADREA’s 65,000m2 estate.
“This project represents the highest level of precision and care in equine logistics,” said David Robson, managing director and co-founder of Equitrans Logistics, which managed every stage of the process from health certification, export documentation and quarantine coordination to import clearance, biosecurity supervision and delivery to Jubail Island.
“Transporting these incredible horses from four locations with stringent timelines demanded flawless coordination and the highest level of care. We’re honoured to have helped unite the world’s most storied riding institutions for ADREA’s debut,” Robson added.
ADREA’s opening marks a cultural milestone, blending Emirati heritage with Europe’s classical equestrian traditions to create the region’s first permanent home for haute école performance and education.
