Oman Air Cargo is expanding its network with the launch of a new Muscat, Oman, to Kigali, Rwanda, route.
Launching in June 2026, the service will operate using scheduled B-737 passenger flights, enabling time sensitive cargo flows between East Africa and the Middle East.
“We are seeing sustained growth in demand between the Middle East and Africa, particularly for perishables and specialist cargo,” said Michael Duggan, head of cargo, Oman Air. “This new route allows us to respond with additional capacity and reach.”
The new Muscat-Kigali service will support the movement of fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, general cargo and express shipments originating in East Africa.
Additionally, cargo arriving in Muscat will benefit from Oman Air’s onward connections to the Middle East, Europe, and the Indian subcontinent, positioning Oman as an efficient transit hub for African exports destined for global markets.
The new route was announced as a delegation of senior Rwandan government officials met with their Omani counterparts to deepen cooperation in logistics, aviation and infrastructure.
Separate memoranda of understanding were also signed on logistics services and inland dry port operations, development around the new Bugesera Airport district and data centre services.
