Pan-European logistics real estate specialist Verdion has secured a former production site in northern Cologne to create a €95 million (c. £82m) urban logistics hub.
Verdion will speculatively develop the vacant 6.2-ha brownfield facility in the Ossendorf area to provide a total of 37,859m² (c. 407,510ft²) of new accommodation for its Verdion European Logistics Fund 2 (VELF 2).
Reportedly, the new builds will meet EG-40 and DGNB Gold standards and powered only by renewable energy.
Verdion executive director – investment management, Simon Walter, said: “We remain focused on new, value-add opportunities across Germany, Denmark and Sweden, with more acquisitions planned for the current quarter and further additions expected in the months ahead.
“By combining in-house commercial and technical expertise with local knowledge we will continue to deliver new assets that maximise every opportunity to the full.”
