John Hutchings, chief executive of the Food Storage and Distribution Federation, has retired.

The federation said that his 11 year period of office had delivered a strong organisation, in excellent financial condition which had grown in membership and influence.

“With the establishment of the Climate Change Agreement three years ago, industry coverage has broadened to cover the whole food supply chain from frozen to ambient. FSDF has also acquired it’s own office premises.”

To mark the occasion, FSDF board and staff members held a lunch in his honour at the Mill House Hotel, near Reading.

The FSDF which was formally the Cold Storage and Distribution Federation was founded in 1911. With its main members from the food and drink storage and distribution industry, the FSDF also has Associate members who supply a wide range of equipment, vehicles and support services and a growing number of major food retailers.
