Barloworld Handling is set to open eight regional showrooms throughout the UK to display approved used Hyster forklift trucks.
The range includes a variety of machines from pallet trucks to large container handling trucks, all of which have been maintained by Barloworld from new and are available for sale or lease.
At the end of a long-term contract each unit is returned to the company’s National Used Equipment Centre in Warrington where it goes through a thorough evaluation, service and repair.
Barloworld provides three levels of truck finishing: Merit, Quality and Quality+, with Quality+ trucks receiving an additional level of preparation which includes a full body repaint, new tyres, forks, seat and lift chains, and a new battery for electric trucks.
Neil Edwards, equipment remarketing manager at Barloworld, said: “During the current downturn, businesses are looking to reduce costs and get the very best value from their investments. So it’s no surprise to see many of them opting for approved used forklifts rather than new.”
However, he warns against buying used trucks on the open market just because they are cheap.
“Cheap trucks supplied without servicing or quality testing might seem like a better deal initially, but can prove unreliable and this can lead to unproductive downtime through break downs, expensive parts replacements, additional servicing and can even constitute a safety risk that could lead to criminal prosecution.”
The showrooms are now open at Barloworld’s regional facilities in Cumbernauld, Warrington, West Bromwich, Doncaster, Leeds, Gateshead, Maidenhead and Thurrock.
