Office supplies wholesaler VOW has enlisted Gist to take over delivery operations in the South West in a new £3 million contract, extending its existing relationship with the firm.
The South West operation comprises 27 vehicles ranging from 3.5-tonne Sprinters to 18-tonne rigids and involves around 275 customer deliveries each day.
The deal will involve the TUPE transfer of some 43 VOW staff based in Bristol and a network of supporting out bases.
Following this, Gist will transfer operations from VOW’s Bristol site to two Gist sites, giving the company access to its shared-user infrastructure.
The out bases at Exeter, Plymouth and Cardiff will be retained to support the two main operating centres.
The contract in the South West will be aligned with VOW’s wider deal with Gist, which involves the daily time-sensitive delivery of office products from the company’s national distribution centre in Lutterworth to its national network of regional distribution centres.
It also includes radial distribution of VOW’s product range to customers across the Midlands and the provision of a national warehousing and delivery operation for business furniture.
