Geodis Wilson has opened a new airfreight office in Dubai and is advancing its sea-air product, the first of three service developments planned in the United Arab Emirates this year.
The office is based in Dubai’s Cargo Village and will employ 22 people allowing the company’s existing combined office and warehouse close by to focus entirely on warehousing.
The new facility will handle freight from up to ten inbound flights a day, mainly from Europe and the Far East. It will also handle sea-air cargo originating as ocean freight from the Geodis Wilson network in the Far East, which is switched from the nearby Jebel Ali port to air cargo on Dubai flights bound for European destinations.
The new office will also be involved in customs clearance, general forwarding, supply chain management, warehousing and customs clearance activities.
Geodis Wilson plans to open an Abu Dhabi office in the second quarter of the year, while in the third quarter it will open a new regional headquarters in Jebel Ali.
