Australian logistics group Toll has launched its fully owned and operated contract logistics operations in China following the integration of the ST-Anda business into the group.
Toll has had operations in China through its controlling interest in joint venture partner ST Anda since 1996. It completed its acquisition of the joint venture earlier this year, and now fully operates a network of 23 logistics facilities with over 20 distribution centres, delivering to more than 1,600 cities across the country. Toll Global Logistics will have its Greater China regional headquarters in Shanghai.

The Toll Group was founded in Australia in 1888 by Albert F. Toll as a coal haulage business, using horse and cart transport. The business was the subject of a management buyout in 1986, and has grown both organically and through a series of takeovers including a number of companies from the TNT and Brambles groups. It now employs 40,000 staff in 55 countries with sales of some £3.7bn (A$6.5bn).
Last month it took over WT Sea Air Group and Genesis Forwarding Group in the UK. “These two UK headquartered acquisitions combine to provide significant scale to our Toll Global Forwarding division in Europe,” said Little.
WT is expected to generate sales this year of around £97m (A$170m) and Genesis is expected to generate around £46m (A$80m).
