Campaigners, including the Freight Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association, have taken the call for a freeze of fuel duty to the Treasury ahead of the budget next Wednesday.
The team, comprising Geoff Dunning of the RHA, James Hookham, FTA, FairFuel campaign organiser Peter Carroll, Quentin Willson and Tessa Munt met Justine Greening, Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
“We had a very constructive meeting with the minister, she not only heard our concerns, it was very apparent that she actually listened to what we had to say,” said Dunning.
“Of course, the final decision as to whether or not we will see a freeze on fuel duty rests with the Chancellor. We sincerely hope that he will help us, not only by freezing the next duty increase but by introducing a long term solution to thorny issue of oil pricing.”
