Wilh Wilhelmsen has launched the MV Tønsberg, a Mark V class, ro-ro ship, to mark its 150th anniversary.
The group reckons that the 265 metre vessel is the largest of its kind, offering a cargo volume of 138,000 cu m over six fixed and three hoistable decks. The cargo hold is designed to take high and heavy cargo such as excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders and harvesters.
The vessel is built built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at Nagasaki in Japan. Four Mark V vessels will be delivered to Wilh Wilhelmsen and its partner Wallenius Lines. The second vessel will be delivered in August and two in 2012.
