Kewill has released a new version of its transport and warehouse management suite – Kewill Logistics 6.04 with a new 4PL module. This has a Purchase Order Management System to set up and control all kinds of third-party logistics services without the need of in-house transport assets.
Kewill says 4PL-processes are being routed based on the article definitions. “The type of article determines each step through the logistic process towards the ultimate destination. Examples include standard sizes and weights per article, box and pallet, but also matching tariff structures, expected date of arrival in the DC or port, and the required date of delivery on a production facility or another warehouse. The article’s master data, which is normally only available in a WMS environment, outlines the entire supply chain process.”
The software also offers an extension to the existing cross dock functionalities including integrated management of incoming and outgoing trips, load and unload lists, printing of transport documents, transport labels and overviews such as inventory differences and so on.
A new plan board in Kewill Logistics 6.04 means that the entire application suite has become web based. Prior to this development, this was still one of the last client/servers in use. As a result, Citrix or Terminal Server will no longer be required to run it in a multi-site environment.
