Book distributor Ingram has signed a deal with SBS Worldwide to offer Ingram’s clients with greater visibility of their titles right down to ISBN level via SBS Worldwide’s tracking and supply chain management software, Electronic Distribution Centre.
SBS and Ingram will also consolidate on major freight lanes and offer competitive rates on global transport from a range of international carriers.
Lisa White, international transport manager at Ingram, said: “Sourcing books from Asia is easy, but getting complete visibility of where those books are from order to delivery is hard.”
The eDC system is designed to give everyone in the supply chain process real time access to the information on where books are, when delivery can be expected, from order placement, through print and onto final delivery.
