Air France reckons it carried more than 1,400 tons of Beaujolais Nouveau around the world on the first day of release this year.
The race to be first to get the new season Beaujolais to customers takes place on the third Thursday in November, and AF-KL Cargo plays a major role in moving wine around the world.
“All together no less than 1400 tons have been carried, mostly from Paris-CDG (69 per cent) and from Amsterdam-Schiphol (31 per cent), on board the regular flights of Air France and KLM.
The Nouveau is particularly popular in Japan accounting for 73 per cent of AF-KL total tonnage. But Asia in general with 11 per cent, as well as North America with 11 per cent also, are not left out either.
