Carlsberg UK has chosen Norbert Dentressangle to handle its primary logistics under a new five year contract.
From February next year, Dentressangle will take responsibility for all Carlsberg’s UK primary distribution. This includes managing the flow of materials, such as cans, bottles and kegs, and finished product, into and out of the Carlsberg brewery in Northampton, management of the container yard, involving the receipt, sorting and inspection of empty kegs and management of Carlsberg’s national distribution centre, also in Northampton.
The brewer will continue to distribute its own and other third-party brands to pub and free-trade customers through its own secondary on-trade distribution network.
David Hawkins, country procurement manager for Carlsberg UK, said: “Carlsberg is delighted to have secured the services of Norbert Dentressangle as our primary transport, national distribution centre and brewery services provider. Their appointment follows a long and tough tendering process, in which they have shown themselves to be a dynamic partner with a collaborative approach to day-to-day business.
“What is also clear to see is that there is a strong cultural fit in how Norbert Dentressangle develops people and allows them to grow with the business, Carlsberg shares this value as a key business driver.”
Dentressangle will also be responsible for the primary transport of both small pack products into retailers’ RDCs, kegged product into Carlsberg’s own secondary distribution network and the movement of tanked beer for major events, such as music festivals.
Carlsberg brands include Tuborg, Tetley’s, San Miguel, Staropramen, Holsten and of course Carlsberg.
