UPS has completed delivering “competition logistics” for two test events for 2012 Paralympics.
On Friday it set up the test event of goalball, which will be played on Saturday, following a test game of handball. Both events are hosted in the Handball Arena on the Olympic Park as part of the London Prepares series.
UPS has delivered all equipment and kit, including specially designed balls, competitor uniforms, and more than 2,600 pieces of furniture including over 612 chairs.
During Games time, the events will run with less than 12 hours changeover time; everything from specialist equipment to competition flooring is required to change to transform the arena from a handball to goalball competition space within a matter of hours.
Cindy Miller, managing director, UPS UK, Ireland & Nordics, said: “By use our experience from other games such as Beijing 2008, together with the opportunity to test run operations across key events such as these, we are fully prepared to deliver the best games yet.”
