FedEx Express is trialling a zero-emission all-electric delivery vehicle from Nissan on the streets of London.
The Nissan NV200 EV prototype uses the same EV powertrain and battery originally developed for the100 per cent electric family car, the Nissan LEAF.
FedEx Express currently operates 43 all-electric vehicles in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Memphis.
With zero emissions, no tailpipe, the prototype does not impact air quality, and its energy-recycling regenerative braking is well-suited to the start and stop of city traffic, reducing energy loss, and increasing the efficiency of the vehicle’s driveline.
FedEx Express is working with Nissan to conduct similar tests in Singapore, and Japan, where in 2011, the NV200 EV was used by the Japan Post Service on delivery and collection duties.
