Advanced Supply Chain has opened a 200,000 sq ft operations centre at Birstall in Leeds. The customs bonded site was originally intended to provide overspill storage for existing customers, but increased demand has created a need for the site to fulfil an operations centre role.
General manager Jane Marshall said: “Advanced Supply Chain is experiencing a huge demand from the UK clothing sector for pre-retailing operations in the UK.
This, combined with a requirement for additional warehousing for new freight forwarding customers, which has occurred as a result of the Sinotrans partnership, means that our new Leeds facility will be run as an additional operations centre alongside our main pre retail site in Holmfield, Halifax.”
The company announced the partnership with Sinotrans in August of last year. Sinotrans is China’s largest logistics company and works with Advanced Supply Chain to offer UK customers end-to-end logistics for the movement of goods to and from Asia.
Advanced expects to create 150 jobs at the new facility over the next twelve months.
