Leicester-based LB Foster Materials Handling has won a contract with schoolwear specialist, David Luke, to design, manufacture and install a hanging garment system for 140,000 of its Eco Blazers.
A drastic increase in sales in the last six months saw David Luke require extra storage for the Eco Blazer.
“These unique blazers feature an outside fabric which is created entirely from recycled plastic bottles; it takes just 16 bottles to make one blazer, said the company’s operations manager, David Luke.
“The blazer’s popularity proved so great that we had to resort to using outside storage to meet demand. The three warehouses we have here at our headquarters in Manchester were already full of our other school uniform lines.
“And LB Foster’s inventive design won them the contract. Their solution allows us to have six tiers of racking – three upstairs and three downstairs plus a small mezzanine floor over the checking area.”
The new six tier system, which includes integral walkways, will be held within David Luke’s new 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Manchester.
