Delivery accuracy and stock control crucial

Nikon UK, part of photographic and optical equipment manufacturer Nikon Corporation, is using Amethyst Group Logistics Division to provide a partner logistics solution to support its Imaging retail operation for UK and the Republic of Ireland.

As part of the agreement, product airfreighted from the Far East is received into one of Amethyst’s distribution centres and distributed to Nikon’s broad customer base, including major multiples and specialist photographic retailers.

Nikon chose Amethyst because of the quality of its systems and proven ability with high value items, in providing strong stock control, on-time delivery accuracy and visibility throughout the distribution process.

The Amethyst team worked closely with Nikon in managing both systems integration and stock transfer, to ensure that the transition was fast, efficient and seamless, with no disruption to Nikon’s service continuity. As a result, implementation was completed on time and its success can in part be judged by the fact that Nikon has just recorded its best-ever month in terms of units shipped via a third-party outsourcer.
