British Airways World Cargo has suspended its weekly service to Johannesburg via Cologne. The company said that increasing pressure on yields and high fuel costs has forced the carrier to cancel the run but stressed that it would continue to provide more than 375 tonnes of bellyhold capacity to Johannesburg and Cape Town every week on its mainline flights.
The Cologne weekly short-haul freighter operation would also continue to operate as normal, offering more than 40 tonnes’ capacity. BA said it constantly monitored the demand for services throughout its network, but services had to be economically sustainable.
