Yearsley Group has purchased a significant proportion of the business assets of Celsius First from its Administrators. Celsius went into administration on 2 March.
The cold stores at Bellshill, Grimsby, Wisbech and Hams Hall, have all been purchased, increasing Yearsley’s cold storage capacity by over 50 per cent. Also incorporated in the purchase are a number of large managed distribution contracts.
Managing director Harry Yearsley said: “The acquisition strengthens Yearsley Group’s share of the cold storage and distribution market. Adding these sites in strategic locations ultimately ensures the highest levels of customer service within the industry are maintained, while the company continues its aim of becoming the UK market leader in cold storage & distribution.”
Yearsley already has six depots, two in the North West, one in Birmingham, one in the North East and two in Kent with a current fleet of 100 vehicles across the depots. The capacity at these stores is 110,000 pallet sites.
It handles more than 4,000 pallets a day across all parts of the supply chain starting with the storage of raw materials, delivery to the manufacturer, collection of finished goods through to delivery to retailers, wholesalers and other food outlets throughout the UK.
Over the past five years it has spent more than £50m on new stores and upgrading existing stores.
