A new logistics facility at Brussels Airport measuring 14,000m² (c. 150,694ft²) site is now under construction in the eastern part of the cargo zone.
The building will be divided into two units, combining warehousing and office space to meet the operational needs of its partners.
Two long-established partners on the site, Yusen Logistics and Air Promotions Agencies (APA), will further develop their activities there, particularly in the pharmaceutical and general cargo sectors.
The site became available following the demolition of an obsolete building, as part of an approach focused on optimising land use.
The modernisation of this area aims to ensure more efficient use of an already intensively used space while responding to the evolving needs of the logistics sector.
The project aims to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification, an internationally recognised standard for buildings designed according to high sustainability and energy efficiency criteria.
The new facility will integrate several sustainable features, including a wood beam construction, solar panels, heat pumps, rain gardens, a rainwater storage tank, charging stations, and bicycle parking facilities.
