Citrus Durham, the Citrus Group’s real estate operations within Durham, has announced the next phase of its £250 million Integra 61 development.
Integra61 is a 205-acre mixed-use development in Durham, featuring one of the North East’s largest logistics hubs, alongside homes, healthcare, and retail.
Reportedly, the new phase includes 3.2m ft² of employment space, which could bring some 4,500 jobs during the construction and operational stages.
It could also generate up to £170m of annual economic output for the North East region.
The move follows the success of the first phase of Integra 61 which spans 205 acres and includes 3m ft² of developable space, 90% of which is now complete.
Following the delivery of Amazon’s 2m ft² fulfilment centre, a further 640,000ft² of speculative logistics space, known as Connect at Integra 61, was completed on site with deals either concluded or in the pipeline on all 5 units.
Citrus regional director and group head of planning, James Taylor, said: “Integra 61 has proven to be a ground-breaking development for the North East, making a significant contribution to the region’s economy through the creation of thousands of jobs in addition to much-needed new homes, employment space and amenities.
“Due to the success of the first phase, the next logical step is to utilise adjacent land, which has been safeguarded by Durham County Council for employment use, to enable further employment space for businesses to invest and grow in the area.”
