UK out-of-home parcel network Collect+ has reported on its Christmas Day returns, with the first parcel returned at 7:06am at a convenience store in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
With more than 50 packages returned to Collect+ stores, Birmingham was the busiest return hotspot on 25 December, followed by Redbridge (47) and Manchester (44).
“The festive period is always a whirlwind for our retailers, with extended sales periods and online shopping surges creating a constant flow of deliveries and returns,” said Sam Holden, managing director for parcels and ecommerce at PayPoint.
Holden, who previously served as chief commercial officer at Yodel, joined PayPoint in November.
“Collect+ exists to make life a little easier during this busy period. We understand that the holidays can be hectic, and our goal is to ensure that whenever someone needs to send or return a parcel, there will be a local store nearby ready to help,” she added.
With some 14,000 locations including newsagents, convenience stores, supermarkets and petrol stations, Collect+ operates the UK’s largest carrier-agnostic parcel network.
In September, International Distribution Services, the owner of Royal Mail, announced it had acquired a 49% stake in Collect+ as part of its effort to make collecting, sending and returning parcels as convenient as possible for customers.
