DHL Group and JD.com have signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing to support German brands entering China. The collaboration will also help German brands expand their reach in Europe through JD.com’s new retail platform, Joybuy.
The partnership combines DHL’s global logistics network with JD.com’s e-commerce ecosystem to deliver integrated cross-border solutions.
Specifically, DHL will introduce German brands to JD.com’s JINGDONG cross-border platform, enabling them to sell directly to more than 700 million Chinese consumers without establishing a legal entity in China.
DHL and JINGDONG Logistics will also collaborate on fulfilment solutions, including preferential customs and VAT schemes for B2C shipments.
Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group, said: “This partnership will enable a solution that helps DHL customers in Germany and Europe in accessing the vast China market… The combination of our logistics expertise and JD.com’s established e-commerce capabilities will provide great benefits for German brands to expand internationally.”
Sandy Xu, CEO of JD.com, said the MoU will combine logistics capabilities, digital infrastructure and market access to help brands better understand Chinese consumer demand and improve go-to-market efficiency.
