DP World has officially inaugurated the 300,000m2 Sokhna Logistics Park in Egypt, with the first phase now operational.
Located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Sokhna hub was developed in partnership with British International Investment, a UK development finance institution and impact investor.
The new facility reinforces DP World’s commitment to strengthening Egypt’s trade infrastructure. Specifically, it supports key sectors such as raw materials, packaging, agriculture, electronics, construction materials, textiles, automotive components, and electric vehicles.
DP World is investing US$85m (£63.7m) to develop the Sokhna Logistics Park, located just 10km from Sokha Port in Ain Sokhna.
The first phase of the park is now operational, with phase two scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2026. Once complete, the 300,000m2 logistics park will create more than 300 jobs.
“Business interest has been strong, with 90 customers in the pipeline and several contracts already signed,” according to DP World.
The park was inaugurated by Egyptian prime minister Mostafa Madbouly in the presence of government officials, company leaders, and private sector representatives.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman and group CEO of DP World stated: “Our commitment in Egypt goes beyond the port. We are building a sustainable, fully integrated logistics ecosystem that offers end-to-end solutions – from factory floor to customer door – driving seamless integration and trade flows that will boost exports, create jobs, and support economic growth.”
Bin Sulayem also announced that DP World has started construction of a new US$29m cold storage facility in 6th of October City. Connected to the logistics park, the 16,000m² cold storage facility is designed to strengthen the country’s cold chain capabilities and support growing demand for energy-efficient, temperature-controlled storage.
Egypt’s strategic location at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East and Europe position the country as a critical logistics gateway between East and West and intra-continental trade. Earlier this month Scan, a global freight forwarder and logistics company opened a new regional office in the country.
