Container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has revealed that it is losing around $40 to $50 million (c. £29-£37m) a week due to the US/Israel-Iran conflict.
This, the company stated, could further increase costs as the conflict continues, putting further strain on fragile supply chains.
These extra costs would be passed onto the customers as premiums increase to compensate for the changing shipping conditions.
Speaking to news broadcaster ntv, Hapag-Lloyd CEO, Rolf Habben, said: “We can’t just brush that off easily,” Rolf Habben Jansen told news broadcaster ntv, according to a statement.
